2028 Eclipse

Day Turning into Night in the Southern Hemisphere on 22 July 2028

On Saturday, 22nd of July 2028, a total solar eclipse will happen across Cocos (Keeling) Island, Christmas Island, vast parts of Australia’s rugged emptiness, the metropolis of Sydney, and New Zealand’s South Island. In the northwest of Australia, totality will last for 5 minutes and 10 seconds.

Near the eclipse’s point of greatest duration, the shadow crosses the remote Kimberley: a vast landscape of open woodland, winding waterways and weathered stone. It’s a beautiful place to picture the moment, even as we look for a practical place to experience it.
